Pristine untamed nature, branching waterways and rich cultural traditions characterise the Spreewald. Situated within the biosphere reserve, Spreewelten is located only an hour away from Berlin. Enhancing the destination with the addition of a hotel is part of our future strategic development plan for the former adventure pool and sauna village. Our aim is to make Spreewelten more attractive to a range of different audiences over the long run through a special blend of fun and relaxation. Our architect team around Kieran Stanley, CEO dan pearlman experience architecture, was responsible for the conceptual design planning and supervised the master plan until the final reopening. Through this holistic design concept, a unique apartment complex was able to arise, contributing to the sense identity of the Spreewelten Bad and building a perfect extension of the waterpark. The spacious apartments of the hotel are perfect for families, cyclists and wellness guests alike.
As one of the top leisure destinations in Germany, the apartment complex of the Spreewelten offers the opportunity to comfortably and flexibly extend your visit of the waterpark. The newly constructed hotel facility is based architecturally on a three-sided courtyard common to the Spreewald region. Natural materials, soothing colours and forms give the fifty apartments a rustic yet modern look. This oasis of rest and relaxation far away from everyday life invites to slow down and enjoy a perfect day or vacation. We have purposely incorporated the surrounding environment into our overall design concept. The classical elements, sounds and garden designs of the Spreewald region inform our design approach and are updated stylistically. The special charm of Spreewelten is reflected in the rooms and public spaces of the complex. Alcoves as a design element are repeated in both the glass facades and the rooms, providing a frame within which to enjoy a relaxing visit to Spreewelten. Elements of the penguin story-line inside the building link to the water park. The Spreewelten charm can likewise be found in the rooms and public spaces like the lobby, bar and family apartments of the complex. Natural colours and materials create an overall appearance of warmth and cosiness. Also, the alcoves as typical representatives of the Spreewald are integrated as a safe heaven to rest and sleep in. A reduced design of walls, ceilings and floors makes room for the interior elements to shine. Type A apartments are extra special for children, as separated sleeping areas are themed as penguin caves. Like so, walls and ceilings are turning into a 360-degree sleeping panorama. The complex represents the perfect starting point for tours through the Spreewald.
