Campus Berlin

How can a modern campus be designed to create a forward-thinking environment for learning, teaching, and studying, while also clearly reflecting the university’s corporate identity? Since 2021, the creative agency dan pearlman has supported the SRH University of Applied Sciences with the concept of “Brand in Space.”

A BIT MORE DETAIL

The SRH Campus Berlin project showcases the results of the collaboration between the university and dan pearlman in bringing SRH’s brand identity into the campus environment. The university’s branding and corporate design were initially developed by Martin et Karczinski in Munich. Building on these guidelines, dan pearlman developed the “Brand in Space” concept, defining materials, colors, forms, furniture types, colors, and surface configurations, as well as key design elements integrated throughout the space. For the new Berlin location, the design’s tone, colors, and style were precisely translated into the new campus in Berlin-Neukölln.

Situated by the water and close to Berlin’s ring rail line, the 12,000-square-meter campus offers a modern, functional design that fosters student learning and development in an inspiring atmosphere. The result is a dynamic learning and working space that both embodies and enlivens the SRH brand.

New Learning Hubs & Collaborative Spaces
In today’s world of digitalization, remote work, and lifelong learning, rigid learning structures are often outdated. New Learning Hubs and Collaborative Spaces represent the evolution of traditional learning environments into dynamic, flexible spaces that cater to the needs of a modern, digitally driven society. Conceptualized and implemented by dan pearlman’s brand architects, led by Professor Marcus Fischer, the “Brand in Space” concept brings to life an environment designed for innovative learning and working.

At SRH Campus Berlin on Sonnenallee in the creative heart of Neukölln, students have access to state-of-the-art classrooms and inspiring creative labs that create a vibrant and innovative learning atmosphere. Nestled among music studios, design agencies, and art projects, the campus provides the ideal environment for academic success.

A three-dimensional SRH logo sculpture marks the entrance as a supersign design feature. Behind it, an open, light-filled entry hall serves as a welcoming hub for students and staff alike – a space to meet, work, relax, and hold events. A centrally located reception desk and a dedicated cafeteria contribute to the space’s inviting feel.

The multi-functional area features flexible furniture from Steelcase, transforming it into a versatile space that meets high functional, qualitative, and aesthetic standards. Soft, bright cream-colored materials, textiles, and wood elements create a warm contrast to light gray concrete walls, while overhead chains in shades of beige, orange, copper, and rust red add lively, colorful accents.

Numerous classrooms are available, with all furniture being modular and easily movable. Even the smallest details, like felt pen holders with rounded edges, reflect the university’s corporate design. Custom lighting by Trilux, in the SRH style with rounded edges and a unique orange hue, enhances the ambiance and can now be used at other SRH locations.

Another highlight is the modern forum with a stage and state-of-the-art stage technology, perfect for events, workshops, or lectures.

The project was completed in October 2024, led by Creative Director Professor Marcus Fischer. We extend our thanks to the SRH Campus Berlin team for their inspiring collaboration.

SRH Campus Berlin as a “New Learning Hub & Collaborative Space”
In an age of digitalization, remote work, and lifelong learning, New Learning Hubs and Collaborative Spaces are ideal for organizations, educational institutions, and creative industries looking for flexible, networked, and dynamic learning environments.

New Learning Hubs provide adaptable spaces for diverse learning styles and needs, whether for team meetings, workshops, or individual study, promoting both focus and creativity. Collaborative Spaces foster an atmosphere where teamwork, exchange, and innovation are central. Open layouts and collaboration-friendly designs drive creativity and innovation, offering these key benefits:

To meet these goals, New Learning Hubs and Collaborative Spaces are often equipped with:
