The Berlin City West area around Kurfürstendamm is well-known beyond the borders of the German capital and ranks among the world’s major shopping boulevards. With the repositioning of Kurfürstendamm and its adjacent streets, the brand and destination development experts at dan pearlman have created a flagship placemaking project in Berlin’s City West. Placemaking involves giving new significance to public places and urban quarters, fostering social interaction, and actively improving the quality of life for a community.

Social interaction is also the key phrase for the URBAN STAGE on Breitscheidplatz. Located in the heart of City West, Breitscheidplatz is a well-known and popular event venue in the capital, hosting a variety of established events that actively enliven the square. Right on Kurfürstendamm, the URBAN STAGE now invites visitors and guests of Breitscheidplatz to linger with its permanent installation of furniture and design elements. This non-commercial offering provides a cozy place to rest after a shopping spree, serves as a prominent meeting point with high stay quality, and acts as a temporary event location for music and performances. It also offers ample space for spontaneous mini-concerts by street musicians and artists.

The multifunctional interaction area is part of the overall strategy for repositioning Berlin’s City West. This repositioning was made possible through the efficient commitment of local stakeholders. A community of dedicated actors has formed over many years, advocating for the development of City West within a BID, which stands for Business Improvement District, an internationally recognized designation. The BID Ku’damm-Tauentzien GmbH was established in 2016 from an initiative by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft City as a real estate and location community (ISG) for City West. The engagement of the BID has optimally promoted the positive development towards more quality of stay at Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße, as well as at Breitscheidplatz.
