CANDYLAND and the SKYPARK along with FOODHEAVEN are part of the comprehensive Retailtainment concept for LOOP5. The groundwork for this innovative and first-of-its-kind in Germany Retailtainment project was laid by the client JLL, Jones Lang LaSalle. The project implementation was executed with dan pearlman as the lead design agency under the project management of JLL. This consistent Retailtainment approach ensures a clear repositioning of LOOP5 and has been installed over the past few months during ongoing operations without needing to close the shopping center. Thus, upon completion, individual elements or sections of the so-called Experience Loops of LOOP5 in Weiterstadt near Darmstadt were opened.

CANDYLAND:

In CANDYLAND, everything is “sweet”, as the CANDYSHAKER and the CANDYFOUNTAIN dazzle with bright colors.

The CANDYSHAKER is presented as a walk-in cupcake that towers two floors high and is 11 meters tall with its stylized cherry on top. On the ground floor, there is the Minitagada, a revolving and shaking carousel that spins up to twelve people at a time for 90 seconds. For those who prefer it a bit calmer, there is a small seating area on the upper floor right under the cream topping, offering a fantastic view over CANDYLAND. Here, the CANDYSHAKER surprises additionally with its mirrored dome, reflecting a multi-dimensional self-portrait from above and inviting delightful selfies.

The CANDYFOUNTAIN is a water fountain with six interactive water exhibits for experimenting, playing, and learning, providing fun facts about water alongside the fun.

Moreover, CANDYLAND features two AR stations that serve as windows into the world of the Loopies, the virtual reality characters created specifically for LOOP5 by BEAM Cross Realities. In CANDYLAND, one can explore the home of Loopie “Huge” at the AR stations and bake digital cupcakes with him.

SKYPARK:

In SKYPARK, it’s “going high”. Here, the SKYCLIMBER, an adventure ropes course for both small and large climbers, attracts visitors. Spread over three floors of the shopping center, there are obstacles of varying difficulty levels. The ground floor features the “Adventure Trail” with large tree houses and a 26-meter-long tunnel system for kids to explore. On the first and second floors, the agility of more skilled climbers is tested at a height of 18 meters. With safety equipment, diverse obstacles such as swinging tree trunks, spider nets, or floating platforms can be overcome across two floors. Additionally, there’s another attraction: the Flying Loop. Speed junkies zip by at a height of eight meters at a speed of 15 km/h over the heads of visitors. The 130-meter-long zip line extends like a sculpture above the FOODHEAVEN below on the second floor.

Physical activities work up an appetite and thirst: thus as the centerpiece of the SKYPARK, FOODHEAVEN invites about 500 guests on an area of 1000 square meters to rest and recharge. FOODHEAVEN is divided into different sections catering to various needs. For instance, the FAMILY ISLAND features large tables for families and playstations for children to shorten waiting times. The PANORAMA DECK, even in the depths of winter, attracts with its summery atmosphere.

The comprehensive Retailtainment concept for revitalizing four levels of the shopping center in LOOP5 encompasses five experience areas, the so-called Loops. Each Loop tells its own story and follows a special narrative. By the end of 2024, the final component of the new format will also be implemented, making LOOP5 the first shopping mall in Germany to offer its visitors such an extensive Retailtainment approach under the motto “Enter the Loop World”.
